Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is sober living, and how is it different from treatment?

Sober living homes provide a safe, structured environment for individuals in recovery to continue building their lives after treatment. Unlike treatment centers, sober living does not provide clinical therapy but instead focuses on accountability, peer support, and healthy routines. At Recovered Humans Recovery Homes, residents often attend outpatient or intensive outpatient programs while living in our homes.

2. Who can apply to live at Recovered Humans Recovery Homes?

Our homes are designed for women seeking a supportive, sober environment. Applicants must be committed to recovery, able to participate in house expectations, and willing to live in community with other women in recovery. We welcome women coming directly from treatment as well as those seeking a safe environment to strengthen their recovery.

3. What makes Recovered Humans different from other sober living homes?

We are founded and run by women in sustained recovery who understand the unique challenges of early sobriety. Our homes are clean, safe, and accredited, with recovery coaches on staff. We emphasize compassion, accountability, and long-term success rather than “quick fixes.” We never give up on women after a relapse—we provide structure and support to help them get back on track.

4. Where are your sober living homes located?

We currently operate several women’s sober living homes in Northern Colorado, including Onyx House, Amethyst House, and Jasper House. Each home offers its own personality and community while following the same high standards of care and accountability.

5. What rules and expectations do residents need to follow?

Residents agree to live substance-free, participate in recovery meetings, engage in outpatient or coaching services, follow curfews, and contribute to house chores. We also require regular drug and alcohol testing. These rules ensure a safe, supportive environment for all.

6. How long can someone stay in sober living?

The length of stay varies by individual. Many women live in our homes for 6–12 months or longer, depending on their needs and progress. We encourage residents to stay as long as it takes to build a strong foundation in recovery.

7. How much does sober living cost?

At Recovered Humans Recovery Homes, there is a $250 intake fee due upfront at the time of admission.

Program fees are:

  • $995 per month for a shared room

  • $1,500 per month for a private room

The intake fee plus the first 30 days of program fees are required at move-in. After that, program fees are due every 30 days from the date of intake.

8. Do you offer financial assistance or scholarships?

Recovered Humans does not directly provide scholarships. However, we partner with outside scholarship organizations and may be able to connect residents with funding opportunities depending on availability. We encourage applicants and families to discuss options with our admissions team so we can explore possible resources together.

9. Can residents work or go to school while living in your homes?

Absolutely. In fact, we encourage employment, volunteering, or education as part of building independence. Our structure helps residents balance responsibilities while maintaining their recovery.

10. What happens if a resident relapses?

At Recovered Humans, we believe relapse does not erase progress. Each case is addressed individually. Some residents may transition back into treatment and return, while others may stay under stricter accountability contracts. Our goal is always to support healing, not to punish.

11. Do you accept residents using medication-assisted treatment (MAT)?

Yes. We support evidence-based recovery pathways, including medication-assisted treatment such as Suboxone or Vivitrol, provided it is prescribed and monitored by a licensed provider. Our homes are inclusive of multiple pathways to recovery.

12. How do I apply to live in a sober living home?

You can start by filling out our online intake request form or contacting our admissions team directly. We’ll schedule a call to review your background, needs, and fit for our community. If approved, we’ll walk you through the move-in process step by step.
